Primary Job Functions:
Experience: 10+ years of experience in a related position Prior Supervisory Experience a plus. 1+ year PV experience, a plus Completed Tech I and II training with approvals by First Solar Regional Manager or above Working knowledge of Commercial Power Plant Operations Experience in operating and maintaining power plant electrical systems, SCADA and controls systems operation, troubleshooting advanced electrical components, and using procedures to perform equipment preventative and corrective maintenance
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent approved by HR. NABCEP certification a plus Associates Degree in Engineering or equivalent Technical Certification/Training in the electrical or electronic field College degree preferred Completed Tech I and II training with approvals by First Solar Regional Manager or above Equivalent work experience or training in military, utility, or power industry a plus
Required Skills/Competencies: Ability to oversee contractors in the field and ensure safety, quality and schedule adherence. Ability to work comfortably in potentially remote field conditions and manage multiple tasks and projects. Accomplished at medium & high voltage switching. Mastery at using a CMMS system for maintenance tracking (Maximo Preferred). Excellent knowledge at reading Electrical schematics and prints. Demonstrate knowledge of in-depth testing and troubleshooting of medium voltage and high voltage equipment to include transformers, potential transformers, current transformers, current transducers, breakers, relays, contactors, breakers, motors and inverters. Demonstrated superior knowledge of PV solar plant operations and maintenance. Demonstrate knowledge in electrical safety and arc flash standards Proven computer skills in a Windows environment (Microsoft Office Products). Can lead the installation of new plant equipment projects, to ensure alignment with Engineering documentation and O&M best practice Write/document work and equipment testing instructions and procedures Prepare service reports for site visits, emergency repairs, equipment modifications and equipment improvement investigations On a consistent basis communicate with Engineering, the O&M Project Coordination, Site Technicians, and Management to ensure timely and efficient resolution to all site maintenance activities Ensure a safe work environment by ensuring strict adherence to company protocols Audit site processes for compliance assurance Enforce procedures and processes in accordance with site specific O&M Standards and guidelines Highest level of Integrity Desire to learn then train new and experienced technicians in new knowledge Self-motivated, thinker, and responsible Highly experienced in using and understanding testing and diagnostic equipment (multi-meter, oscilloscope, etc.) Mastery of NEC codes Must be able to demonstrate ownership and train on the knowledge and operation of NOP system from creation to distribution. Master the ability to communicate effectively with the FSOC, meeting all 3-way communication goals. Mastery of all expectations described for a Tech I and Tech II. Must possess strong interpersonal skills to effectively direct First Solar and Contract Company associates Must possess good oral and written communication skills Able to solve problems with little or no supervision. Essential Responsibilities: Capable of supervising complete site operation from start-up to shut down. Able to perform site operations without supervision or oversight. Knowledge of NEC codes Test, analyze, and repair problems in PV Plant systems Coordinate on-site project planning, installations, commissioning, quality inspections, and performance testing of those facilities Perform complex testing, and troubleshooting of equipment and systems Use and maintains tools and techniques required to adjust, calibrate, and repair equipment; including clamp-on meters, oscilloscopes, and other test equipment Ensure that programs and procedures are used at all times, including logs and records, safety procedures, and inspection records Completes required paperwork - time sheets, work orders, forms, inventory, expense reports, and equipment related items Adhere to departmental procedures and safety requirements (OSHA, NFPA 70E, etc.) Understand budgeting processes and be prepared to assist Site and Regional Management in adhering to budgets. Prepare documents necessary for procurement and utilization of materials and vendor services. Demonstrate mastery of Working with a CMM system and interfacing with Planning and Scheduling will be critical to the long term success of the selected candidate. Reporting Relationships: Will report to most senior site manager or supervisor depending on site organizational structure. Will be considered most senior level technician at any First Solar site. Capable of performing all the duties of a Site Supervisor or manager and able to take charge when requested.
Travel: Travel will vary, typically will not exceed 40%. Able to make arrangements with little or no notice.
